Resembling a full moon shining over our beautiful Tar Heel state, Carolina Moon is our North Carolinian version of Camembert. This decadent, soft-ripened cheese is made from pasteurized Jersey milk, and has the traditional round shape of its French counterpart. Aged for 4-5 weeks, it has a delicious buttery, mushroom-y flavor and a rich, creamy texture. Carolina Moon is perfect served at room temperature with baguette or crackers and seasonal fruit or fig jam. Or top with thinly sliced apples, a pinch of cinnamon and bake inside phylo dough. 9-10 oz.
Chapel Hill Creamery’s story began back in the year 2000, in the Piedmont region of their home state, North Carolina. With over 20 years experience in the food-retail industry, they decided to follow their passion of cheese-making, but not just cheese-making. They wanted to make cheese from the milk of their very own herd of cows. So by 2001, after acquiring a herd of 9 Jersey cows and beautiful pastures close to Chapel Hill, they were selling their very first batch of handcrafted artisan cheese at their local farmers’ market!
